Dolls House Nederland Show (Apeldoorn)

Last weekend I visited the Dolls House Nederland Show in Apeldoorn. It was a bit crowded and warm but I managed to visit all the tables I had on my list and bought some beautiful miniatures. It was also nice to meet a few of my friends and have a little chat.

My first wall

According to Bea's instructions, the outside walls should be made from air drying clay but with the problems I had with the base floor in mind I decided NO and tried to think of an alternative. I have been saving egg cartons the past years because I read you can make very realistic 1:12 stones from them so I thought, why not try this in quarter scale? I did and it worked, I must say I am really very pleased with the result.

It is time for 'pannenbier'

In The Netherlands it is custom to drink 'pannenbier' (translated: roof tiles beer although this does not make sense LOL) when a house being built reaches the stage where it is time to add the roof tiles. I glued the house together this week and removed the rubber bands that held it together this morning. So now it is time for some pannenbier (or a nice cup of coffee in my case)!

Ironing board

Today I finished my ironing board (we made this with our Dutch On Line Mini Club, based on a workshop designed by Christine-Léa Frisoni).

Interior walls

This week I decorated the inside walls of the house and I was amazed what you can do with just paper and paint.

Making the base and the upstairs floor.

It took me two weeks to get where I am now: the two floors are finished and I am busy decorating the inside walls. I covered the base with air dry clay (DAS) and scored it, so it looks like it is tiled. It was difficult to get the clay even and after a few mishaps with the rolling pin I used the pasta machine and this worked. The base warped (did not think of sealing it first) but I managed to get it almost even again by sticking it under some books for a few days. Coloring the base was not easy, I used several colors and I am not totally pleased with the result. Making floor boards with paper on the other hand, was really fun to do and I am very pleased with the result of that.

A new project, so very small...

I have nothing really to show you but a few bits and pieces and a booklet. The reason I do show you, is because I am afraid I will chicken out once I started building because this project is so small and I have never built anything smaller than 1" scale (1:12). These are the parts the Petite Properties kit 'The Corner Shop' consists out, it is 1/4" scale (1:48) and I am starting with this today:

Kitchen Roombox

I am sorry I have been so quiet the past months. Just busy with other things and not really made much worth mentioning so I decided to show you something 'old'. I made this little roombox 3 years ago as a present for my mother's 80th birthday.

Patricia Cabrera (Woolytales Miniatures) makes the most beautiful OOAK tiny animals from clay and felted wool. This small Papillon dog with it's cute pink bow arrived here last week and it is even prettier then on the photo.

This little brown bear is also made by Patricia, he has the loveliest eyes.

Two little books

Helma teached us how to make open books, I made two children's books: 'Alice in Wonderland' (pages found with Google Books) and 'Zonnige Uurtjes' (with printies I got from Anita).

Market Stall

The past weeks I have been working on this market stall. The stall is a kit from Lutjeboudel, all the items on it were made by me except the little knitted dresses and tiny socks.
